Founded in 1985…
 In 1985, Dr. Karen Bishop founded the first Futures High School in Southern California as an alternative to traditional high school. Futures' program is based on the concept of personalized, one-to-one instruction in a nurturing learning environment.
Inspired by Oxford…
The Futures concept was inspired by England's famed Oxford University. Oxford has no classrooms. Students learn by meeting with their professors individually. Dr. Bishop was so impressed with this teaching model that she adopted it for Futures.
Without Boundaries…
Since that time, Futures High School has grown to three campuses in Southern California: Oceanside, Mission Viejo and San Diego. With the success of the Futures educational community, Futures International High School was founded to extend the benefits of the Futures' concept and curriculum to students throughout the world.
